Bursaries

We are proud of our inclusive student cohort: pupils at Malvern College come from all walks of life, from all over the world which creates the rich fabric of our school community.

We have a long tradition of providing opportunities to children who would thrive in our school environment but who lack the financial means. Bursary Awards are means-tested and in exceptional circumstances, may cover up to 110% of school fees. Malvern College bursaries are funded by philanthropic support through the Malvernian Society as well as directly by the College and are available to new pupils and existing pupils (should a family’s circumstances change during their time with us).

Malvern College scholarships offer a fee remission of up to 10% for one award, and up to 15% for multiple awards, and are not means-tested.

While it is possible to hold both a scholarship and a school bursary, bursarial awards are calculated according to need and are awarded at the discretion of the Malvern College Bursary Committee following a means-tested review (a third-party company supports the Committee in this process). Parents should be aware that factors such as the release of existing capital, increasing the earning ability of both parents, accessing savings and reasonable adjustments to personal spending will be considered as part of the review.

Should the demand for bursarial support exceed the bursary budget for any given year, the Bursary Committee will prioritise awards for talented pupils who it deems will benefit most from the opportunities on offer at Malvern College, and who in turn will contribute to the College during their time with us. Due to the limits of the bursary budget, bursaries are only available for pupils who are already based in the UK.

Bursaries are awarded for the length of time the pupil will be enrolled at the College.  However, to ensure that support is given to those most in need, bursaries are reviewed on an annual basis, and parents should be aware that it is possible that awards may change, should there be a significant change in their family’s circumstances.
