Chapel

The Chapel stands physically and spiritually at the heart of Malvern College and is a place where our community comes together.

As a Church of England foundation with the Bishop of Worcester as its President of Council Visitor, the College worship is Anglican in style and inclusive by nature. During the weekly Chapel services, spiritual, moral and cultural contemporary issues are discussed, and pupils regularly take an active role in being part of these – presenting talks, music or drama.

The Crypt Chapel, which lies beneath the main Chapel, is open daily as a space which any member of the community may use for quiet prayer or meditation.

Confirmation and Baptisms are also conducted for members of the community.

The Reverend Adam Wharton joined Malvern College as the Housemaster of No.1 and loved serving for 12 years in that role. Since 2018, Adam has completed ministerial training at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and The Priory Church in Malvern, whilst continuing to teach Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Previously, Adam has been Departmental Head at Cranleigh School, and started his career teaching at Stowe School. He is a keen fly-fisherman and enjoys running Malvern Fly-Fishing Club and ‘Spotlight’ – a weekly gathering in which pupils are encouraged to explore the person of Christ and the life-changing effects of following Him. Adam read Theology at Westminster College, Oxford, and completed his PGCE at Homerton, Cambridge. During his time at Malvern, he was awarded his Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership and Management from Leicester University. Adam is married to Ruth, and they have five children and two working Cocker Spaniels.
