Outdoor Education Charity and Fundraising Challenges
At Malvern College, adventure meets purpose. Our Outdoor Education charity challenges are designed to push pupils beyond their limits while raising vital funds for causes that matter. From navigating the Malvern Hills under pursuit to racing against daylight or finding their way home from miles away with no tech, these events embrace our Malvern Qualities — all in the name of charity.
Race the Sun
In 2025, Malvern College proudly launched its first-ever ‘Race the Sun’ challenge, an exciting new Outdoor Education charity event designed to test endurance, teamwork and strategy.
From sunrise to sunset, house teams embarked on an epic adventure — racing not only against each other but against daylight itself. Pupils navigated challenging checkpoints, pushed physical and mental limits and demonstrated true Malvern spirit in support of a fantastic charitable cause.
This unique challenge combined grit, determination and ingenuity, creating an unforgettable experience for all involved.
Hunted
‘Hunted’ is one of Malvern College’s most thrilling Outdoor Education charity events, combining strategy, endurance and nerve in a real-life game of pursuit.
Eleven pairs of Lower Sixth pupils are released into the stunning Malvern Hills with one mission: reach the extraction point without being caught. Standing in their way? A team of staff hunters equipped with sniffer dogs, drones, e-bikes, 4x4s and even a helicopter.
Every decision counts — from choosing the best hiding spots to planning escape routes. This challenge is a true test of resilience, quick thinking and teamwork.
Hunted remains a legendary part of Malvern College’s Outdoor Education tradition, offering pupils an unforgettable experience of adventure and strategy.
Lost
Before Race the Sun, there was ‘Lost’ — one of Malvern College’s most daring Outdoor Education charity events. This unique challenge pushed pupils to their limits in a thrilling 24-hour race back to school.
Two pupils from each House were blindfolded and dropped 50 kilometres from Malvern College with no maps, no technology and no personal items. Their mission? Navigate their way home using only their wits, teamwork and determination — all while outsmarting rival teams.
The first pair to make it back claimed victory and secured the sponsorship funds raised by all Houses for their chosen charity. Lost was more than a race; it was a test of resilience, problem-solving and pure Malvern spirit.
