A Top Independent Private School for Sports

Malvern combines a top-class education and an excellent sporting offer; where every pupil feels supported to achieve their potential in sport and physical activity – whatever that may be.

At Malvern College, we recognise the great benefits that regular sport and physical activity have for our pupils’ physical and mental health. As a leader in independent private school sports, we are pleased to offer over 20 sporting options that cater for all pupil skill levels and interests outside of the classroom.

We are fortunate to have a wealth of exceptional sporting facilities that underpin the strength of Malvern College’s sports programme. Located at the heart of our beautiful campus, these facilities make participation in sport highly accessible for all, helping to develop the Malvern Qualities within our active and purposeful community.

We are proud that typically over 80% of Malvernians represent the College in at least one sport, with every pupil participating in physical activity at least three times a week. As one of the top independent boarding schools for sports, we maintain high participation rates and regularly compete at the highest levels across our performance sports, with regular fixtures against local and regional rivals as well as entry into national competitions.

We are proud that over 80% of Malvernians represent the College in at least one sport. Pupils participate in structured physical activity at least three times a week and benefit from expert coaching, competitive opportunities, and a strong team ethos. As a top choice among boarding schools for sports, we compete against leading schools locally and nationally, with many of our teams and individuals reaching the highest levels of school sport.

Malvern College cricket holds particular distinction, with superb pitches, indoor training facilities, and professional coaching that support both grassroots development and progression to county and national level. Sport at Malvern builds character, resilience, leadership, and lifelong enthusiasm for physical activity.

For me, sport has always been one of the most powerful ways to grow as a person. At Malvern, it is more than exercise or competition; it is a pathway to personal development that also supports both physical and mental health. Through sport, pupils discover qualities such as resilience, teamwork, determination and humility, qualities that matter just as much in life as they do in any game.
