A levels

Malvern offers a broad range of A level subjects. Pupils may choose to specialise in a particular area such as sciences to pursue a career in medicine or engineering, or choose a variety of subjects if they aren’t sure what they wish to study once they leave Malvern.

Each pupil has an academic tutor whose role is to offer advice to pupils about their choices and their suitability for specific subjects, a particular degree, course, or career path. Our aim is to ensure that each pupil chooses the most appropriate subjects for them, taking their interests and longer-term objectives in to consideration.

Pupils at Malvern College choosing A levels will study either three or four subjects throughout their two years in the Sixth Form, with all public examinations being taken at the end of the two-year A level course. A levels may be taken in conjunction with BTEC Sport Diploma which is equivalent to two A levels.

Independent Learning

A focus on independent learning throughout the Sixth Form equips pupils with the skills and desire to be responsible for their own learning so they are prepared to perform strongly at university and in subsequent work environments.

Enrichment Programmes at A level

A level pupils are also able to bolster their skillset by taking part in:

  • Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
  • Global Perspectives AS
  • Further Maths AS
  • L3 Core Maths
  • MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses)
  • Gold Arts Award
  • Private language tuition
