Malvern College pupils are today celebrating exceptional exam results with students achieving top grades and confirming places at some of the world’s best universities.
Pupils have produced stellar academic achievements in both A levels and the International Baccalaureate (results received in July) with places at Oxford, Imperial College London and a full scholarship at Sydney University confirmed.
Other destinations for those heading to university include the USA, Spain and the Netherlands.
Headmaster Mr Keith Metcalfe said today he was extremely proud of this year’s cohort of 173 pupils, who had achieved an outstanding combined UCAS points average of 171 for all pathways – the equivalent of A*A*A*.
Highlights of today’s A level and BTEC results day included 73 per cent of grades at A* to B, the first cohort to take a BTEC in Sports Coaching delivering very good results, including a double distinction for Cassia C and Liv H and almost 60 per cent of pupils who took the full IB diploma achieved more than 35 points – the equivalent of A*A*A at A level. Two pupils scored full marks with 45 points – an incredible result achieved by fewer than one per cent of IB candidates worldwide. Nearly 1 in 4 pupils achieved 40+ points – widely recognised as world class performance.
Among those being celebrated by the Worcestershire school are:
- Geoffrey J who achieved A*A*A* grades and will now study Classics at the University of Oxford.
- Ollie W who is celebrating A*A*A*A* and secured a place at Imperial for Aeronautical Engineering.
- Melody C who heads to Bristol to study Mechanical Engineering also with A*A*A*A*
- Ben E achieved A*A*A* and an A will now take up a place to study Medicine at the University of Sheffield.
For over 30 years, the school has offered the International Baccalaureate to its sixth form pupils alongside A levels. Notable IB successes include:
- Livia MDGR, who has accepted an offer to study Medicine at the University of Edinburgh with the full 45 points.
- Tara G, who has also secured a place at Edinburgh with 45 points to study Biological Sciences.
- Arthur H is off to TU Delft in the Netherlands after scoring 41 points to confirm a place to study Mechanical Engineering.
- Lucia B has been awarded a full scholarship at Sydney University to study Medicine after achieving 44 points.
- Sam W was also awarded 44 points and heads off to Airbus in Bristol for a degree apprenticeship in Aerospace Engineering.
Head of Sixth Form, Jennifer Major, also praised this year’s exam cohort, adding that the results were remarkable and very much part of a bigger story for each pupil.
It is a privilege to help guide these young people and is a genuine delight to celebrate with them on a day like today.
Our sixth form is a vibrant and supportive community. The 2026 students are one of the largest cohorts in the school’s history, with almost 100 pupils choosing the IB Diploma. These pupils have worked extremely hard while showing endless enthusiasm to take part in all aspects of school. This is demonstrated in the variety of destinations they are heading to and the ambitious goals they have set for themselves. I am very excited to see what the future holds for them.
