Music Scholar ◆ Head of Section - Royal Marines (CCF) ◆ Musician of the Year (Grade 7+) ◆ Jazz Band ◆ Engineering Society ◆ Academic Honour Roll ◆ House Singing ◆ ROLE MODEL

Being part of a boarding school community is in Sam’s DNA, having started at The Dragon School before settling at The Downs Malvern. Now a proud member of School House, he fully embraces House loyalty and competition.

A gifted musician, Sam joined Malvern as a Music Scholar and plays both the Saxophone and Timpani to an advanced level. In 2025, he won first place in the inaugural Malvern Young Musician of the Year in the Grades 7+ category. His musical leadership was at its pinnacle when he led School House’s entry in the 2024 House Singing competition – a perfect example of Sam’s ability to unite others through music. He approached it with humility, using his expertise not to take the spotlight but to bring out the best in his peers, allowing their talents to flourish.

Away from music, IB pupil Sam is an active member of the Engineering Society and serves as Section Head for the Royal Marines, instilling discipline and resilience in his fellow cadets. He plays a key role in The Cambrian Patrol and was in charge of the school’s Pringle Trophy team earlier this year. Dedicated to his peers and the school community, Sam leads by example, setting a standard of behaviour and leadership worth emulating.
