Carefully fill out the application form, ensuring all sections are completed accurately and honestly. Provide detailed information about your child’s academic background, achievements, interests and reasons for applying.
Alongside your application, you may need to provide additional documents such as academic transcripts, references, a personal statement or a portfolio (if applicable). Make sure all materials are up to date, clearly presented and submitted before the deadline.
If shortlisted, your child will be invited to attend an assessment day. This may involve interviews with staff, subject-specific tasks, group activities or written tests. It’s an opportunity for your child to demonstrate your skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for your chosen subject.
After the assessment process, your child’s application will be reviewed and a final decision will be made. You will be informed of the outcome within the stated timeframe. If successful, you will receive further details about the scholarship offer and next steps; if not, you may still receive feedback to support future applications.

To apply for a scholarship a pupil needs to meets the following criteria:

Photography Scholars will be expected to have an abiding passion for the subject and an inquiring mind. A thirst for working outside of their comfort zone in all aspects of the subject is a must.

We offer means-tested support ensuring talented pupils can access a Malvern College education. Our comprehensive bursaries for independent schools programme ensures that financial circumstances never prevent exceptional students from joining our community. In exceptional circumstances bursary awards may cover up to 100% of the school fees plus extras.
Malvern College bursaries are funded by philanthropic support through the Malvernian Society as well as directly by the College and are available to new pupils and existing pupils (should a family’s circumstances change during their time with us).

Bursarial awards are calculated according to need and awarded at the discretion of the Malvern College Bursary Committee following a means-tested review supported by a third-party assessment company.
Parents should be aware that factors such as the release of existing capital, increasing the earning ability of both parents, accessing savings and reasonable adjustments to personal spending will be considered as part of the review.
Bursaries are awarded for the length of time the pupil will be enrolled at the College. However, to ensure support is given to those most in need, bursaries are reviewed annually, and awards may change should there be a significant change in family circumstances.
Should demand exceed our bursary budget for any given year, the Bursary Committee will prioritise awards for talented pupils who will benefit most from the opportunities at Malvern College and who will contribute to our community.
Due to budget limitations, bursaries are only available for pupils who are already based in the UK.
It is possible to hold both a scholarship and a bursary, with bursarial awards calculated according to financial need regardless of scholarship status.
Both UK and international pupils are eligible to apply for scholarships. International candidates will need to meet the same standards and demonstrate outstanding ability in their chosen field. Please note that due to budget limitations, bursaries are only available for pupils who are already based in the UK.

Yes, the performance of each scholarship holder is reviewed on an annual basis by the relevant subject Head of Department and Housemaster or Housemistress. Concerns over performance or commitment will be discussed with parents. In exceptional circumstances the award may be withdrawn. However, Bursaries are awarded for the length of time the pupil will be enrolled at the College. They are also reviewed annually to ensure support is given to those most in need.
Absolutely. Bursaries are means-tested and may be applied for independently of a scholarship. They are designed to ensure that no talented pupil is excluded from a Malvern education due to financial circumstances.
