First prize – Alisa – ‘A Breath’
“I’ve learnt to love nature, as it is the only thing that calmly accepts you with no shame or humiliation. I found comfort in the warmth of sunlight, smell of grass, power of wind. I was one on one with fields growing up, I’ve created and dreamed – this is how I became myself. It was always about the feelings, never the colour. We see obvious with our eyes; the unconscious is what hides our true humaneness. Colour is not important as long as you are capable of dealing with hidden beauty.”
Second prize – Nayanna – ‘Lion Looking Up’
“Nature is beautiful, we often look but don’t see. Animals make up a large part of the natural science – they’re studied in detail through the 7 life processes and are combined with the studies of habitats, to understand and appreciate what we could lose, in this case, the wildlife living within the Masaai Mara National Reserve, and produce sustainable ways in which we can save this planet, for the balance on Earth is delicate.”
Third prize Rococo – ‘Lightning Storm’
Lightning is an electrical current in the atmosphere created by frozen rain drops colliding and building up an electrical charge which then causes a lightning bolt.
