Points to Note
  • Registration: The designated teacher MUST register teams at The Grub. Each school will be provided with a registration time to register runners.  Please ensure that you register runners at the time provided.  Any queries regarding your schools registration should be directed to Nicky Seed via npscc@malverncollege.org.uk
    • Two members of staff should accompany each school as it is essential that one be at the start and the other at the finish in case runners become injured, unwell or lost.
    • In the event of lost children or lost property, please contact the Reception in the foyer of the Sports Complex. The phone number is 01684 581681.
  • Course descriptions: The Senior Course starts with a long uphill climb to the top of the course. From there, the first descent leads into a short, tough climb. Runners then head back down towards the start area before repeating the loop for a second time. After the second lap, the course leaves the parkland and heads onto the school campus and to the finish line.
  • The Junior Course starts with a shorter climb, cutting out a section at the top of the course. It rejoins the Senior Course in time for the second climb and then follows the same route back to the start area. Runners will then repeat this shortened lap for a second time, before onto the school campus and to the finish line.
  • There is approximately 100m of running on tarmac, including two road crossings, but having spoken to the local cross-country authorities they are advising the use of running spikes as the overwhelming majority of the course is run on grass.
  • Footwear: Advice from the local athletics and cross country authorities is that lots of runners may prefer to wear spikes. As mentioned, the start is a long uphill stretch, and then flattens out before downhill sections to the finish. There will still be some running on sealed surfaces, but on balance our advisors suggest that spikes will be more advantageous over the length of the course than trail running shoes. All competitors should make every effort to wear appropriate footwear.
