Headmaster, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get to the Christmas chapel service on time.
Move over, Tom Cruise, viral teacher Keith Metcalfe, who last Christmas broke the internet with his pitch-perfect recreation of Hugh Grant’s iconic Love Actually dance, is back – and this time he’s taking the role of action hero.
Keith, Headmaster of Malvern College in Worcestershire, has unleashed a brand-new festive parody video upon the world. This time, it is Mission: Impossible, as he races to get from the top of the Malvern Hills and back to school in time for a Christmas service with pupils and staff.
Mountain biking, abseiling, and running, Keith must make it to the church (well, chapel) on time.
Keith’s Love Actually video has been viewed nearly 1 million times, and has spawned a series of copycat videos from other schools this Christmas. Earlier this year, Keith also parodied an iconic scene from Rocky to promote the school’s cross country challenge known as The Ledder.
He said: “When we did the Love Actually video last Christmas, it was just a bit of fun, but it was so well received that we thought, ‘Well, why not do more?’
“They’re a fun way of promoting some of the things we get up to in the school, and it’s something a bit different for me, too. The Mission: Impossible film has been a lot more involved than Love Actually, but it showcases some of the many outdoor pursuits that we offer at Malvern.”
And this year, it is not only Keith stepping into the spotlight.
Following the opening of a refurbished Music School, students are going head-to-head with the Head. The youngest pupils in the school have spent the term learning full bass, guitar, piano, drum and vocal arrangements to record their own version of the Ed Sheeran, Elton John and LadBaby song Sausage Rolls for Everyone, complete with music video, which is being debuted at the College Christmas Celebration.
“I haven’t seen the pupils’ video yet, but I may have competition on my hands this year,” said Keith. “It’s like the battle of the Christmas ads!”
