Malvern College celebrates excellent GCSE results

Malvern College, shortlisted for Regional Independent School of the Year, is today celebrating excellent GCSE results, with over half the grades (56%) at 9-7 – the equivalent of the former A*-A grade.

96% of grades were 9-4 – above the national average of 67.4%, with 75% between grades 9-6 (A*-B equivalent).

Among the pupils sitting GCSEs this year were 25 young people who took their exams a year early, between them achieving 25 grade 9s and one grade 8.

There are some outstanding performances this year with including Tanaya D (nine 9s and two 8s), Arnur D (eight 9s, two eights and one 7), Wing Kiu C (six 9s, three 8s and one 7) and Isaac M (six 9s, four 8s and one 7). Many others are opening results today with an impressive selection of 9-7s.

Keith Metcalfe, Headmaster at Malvern College, said: “We are very proud of the achievements of all of our GCSE pupils. To have over half of grades at 9-7 and three-quarters at 9-6 is an incredible achievement, which is a testament to the hard work of the pupils and the fantastic support of the teaching staff at the school. “Our students continue to achieve excellent results, but that is only part of their story at Malvern. We are dedicated to developing young people into role models in whatever they choose to do next.

“Following on from our A-level results last week and our International Baccalaureate results earlier, it is so pleasing to see so many pupils doing well and everyone connected with the college would like to congratulate them and wish them all the best for their futures.”
