Investing in Malvern’s Future: Recent Developments and an Exciting New Chapter for Music

Shaping a Stronger Malvern

In recent months, many of our much-loved spaces have been upgraded to become state-of-the-art modern spaces to inspire our future role models, or updated to create welcoming shared spaces enjoyed by the whole community.
Thanks to the generosity of the Malvernian Society and the invaluable support of our alumni and parent donors, we’ve been able to complete a number of ambitious projects that are already having a tangible impact on College life.

What We’ve Achieved So Far

The Gryphon Room

Once a multi-purpose hall, the Gryphon Room has been transformed into a stunning new dining space serving six of our boarding houses. With its striking green roof, contemporary lighting and vibrant planting, it now provides a bright, welcoming environment where pupils come together to relax, refuel and connect.

The Sixth Form Centre

The Memorial Library (“Mem-Lib”), has now become a dedicated space for sixth form pupils, with quiet study rooms, collaborative areas and social spaces that mirror university-style working environments.

The Grub

Our refurbished College café is now a warm, inviting hub for connection and wellbeing across year groups and staff. Behind the café area is home to the shop where pupils can purchase stationery and other items.

Reception

The front door to Malvern has been transformed into a professional, welcoming space for current families and prospective visitors alike. This is accompanied by a new waiting room for prospective parents where they can sit and meet with our admissions team.

The Gaunt

Once a more traditional space, The Gaunt has been reimagined as a bright and flexible extension of our Library—a hub for independent study, group work and quiet reflection. With its vaulted ceiling, modern furniture, and thoughtfully zoned areas, it offers pupils a welcoming, university-style environment to focus and collaborate.

Next Up: The Music School

This summer, we’ve begun renovating our Music School—an exciting next step in our commitment to the performing arts.

Already an all-Steinway school, these renovations will include:

  • Specialist teaching and rehearsal spaces
  • Individual and group practice rooms
  • A purpose-built performance area for concerts, ensembles, and recitals
  • A state-of-the-art digital recording studio.

Whether a pupil is picking up an instrument for the first time or preparing for a conservatoire application, the Music School will be a space where talent is nurtured and passion encouraged.

Made Possible by You

Each of these impressive renovations is about more than bricks and mortar. In every project we feel the passion and generosity of Malvernians – past and present – who take such pride and pleasure in being part of the future of the College. These donors epitomise the spirit of Malvern and are true role models to our pupils.
