The Group 4 project is a compulsory part of the IB diploma where the pupils work in multi-disciplinary groups to create a presentation on a specific topic. (‘Group 4’ is the group of subjects including the Sciences, Design and Technology, Sport and Exercise and Health Sciences). As has been the case with many events this year, the Group 4 project took place remotely with the pupils working entirely online and using various communication tools to collaborate as a group of science and technologists to create a presentation on their chosen “Pandemic or Epidemic”.
The resulting presentations on the topics of Polio, HIV/AIDS, and Ebola were conducted via Microsoft Teams. How the presenters handed the presentation smoothly on to one another within the group was particularly impressive. Over 70 pupils and staff logged in to listen to the presentations – all with our microphones muted until it was time to give a round of applause!
The Polio Epidemic
The Ebola Epidemic
This was a significant hurdle for the pupils and supervisors to jump. However, as in the case of many situations currently, the pupils were superb in their engagement and impressive in their research and presentation.
Well done to them all.
