The campaigning is over, the votes have been counted, and the results are in. The result that Labour won by a landslide is of little surprise, but the suspense as to what this new governing power shift will mean for the education sector remains. Across the country there will be changes and with change comes the need to adapt, as well as a chance to consider opportunities that might arise. Rest assured, we at Malvern College are committed to supporting you through these changes while continuing to provide the first-class education and pastoral care your children deserve.
Your child comes first.
I want to reassure you that our dedication to delivering an outstanding educational experience remains unwavering. We will maintain the high standards of teaching, comprehensive curriculum, excellent pastoral care and enriching co-curricular activities that define our school.
Supporting Our Community
Independent schools are preparing to be taxed by the new Labour government. To alleviate some of the financial pressure this new policy might cause, we are implementing several measures designed to support our families:
- Through school fees for The Downs Malvern families (from Sept 2025) For a pupil to join Malvern College in or after September 2025, entering our Foundation Year (Year 9), if they have spent at least two years (Yrs 7 & 8) enrolled at The Downs Malvern, we are pleased to offer a preferential through school fees rate. This initiative is our way of supporting our families, ensuring that your child’s educational journey within our first-class educational institution remains as seamless and affordable as possible.
- Bursaries and Financial Support
Our wide range of scholarships and bursarial support programmes try to ensure that there are no barriers to Malvern College. We are proud of our charitable commitment, and we work hard to widen access to the school. We raise, and use our funding to enable as many young people as possible to benefit from a Malvern College education.Parents requiring assistance with school fees should apply for a means-tested bursary and there are circumstances when bursary awards may cover up to 110% of the school fees. I would always encourage families to check what support, and the breadth of support is available to them. If continuing your child’s education is at risk due to financial pressures, please do speak to us.
- Discounts for Forces Families and those in receipt of the CEA We recognise the unique challenges faced by families in the armed forces. For families in receipt of the Continuing Education Allowance, families will pay 10% of full boarding fees.
