George was born into a cricketing dynasty with the name Rhodes synonymous with County Cricket. Growing up in Worcestershire, he turned his hand (and feet) to both rugby and cricket, but preference edged towards cricket. Progressing through the Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s pathway and academy, George accepted a scholarship at the University of Worcester and shortly afterwards signed a professional contract. After an 8-year career as a county cricketer, George joins the Malvern College Family as Cricket Professional, and will nurture the next generation of cricketers.
As an elite sportsman, George has mentored young players at home and in Australia and New Zealand. When not teaching batting in the nets or his speciality off-spin bowling, George still plays as the Professional for Suffolk and is an invaluable member of local Birmingham Premier League cricket club, Barnards Green.
