Amaya F

From a historic trio of back-to-back wins at the infamous Ledder Run, to earning a place at the English Schools Cross Country Championships, to holding the position of Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet, scholar Amaya is a force to be reckoned with. An International Baccalaureate student, she is currently considering careers in either medicine or law, with academic choices and super-curricular commitments that support both ambitions. She is an active member of the MedVet Society, Vice President of the Law & Jurisprudence Society, and a committed debater who has represented the College in national competitions. Her confidence in public speaking is further strengthened through music and drama; she sings in the College Choir and has achieved Grade 8 in LAMDA, experiences that continue to develop her performance and communication skills. She also supports younger pupils as an in-house Chemistry tutor and Peer Mentor.

Sport and service are equally central to her life at Malvern, where outdoor learning is just as important to her as academic study in the classroom. A dedicated long-distance runner who trains regularly on the Malvern Hills, Amaya progressed through district, county and regional stages to qualify for the English Schools Cross Country Championships. She also represents the College in hockey and football. Beyond sport, she takes part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and proved one of the most tenacious pupils in the College’s demanding Outdoor Challenge, Lost, navigating independently back to school from an undisclosed location. She also represented Ellerslie House in the inaugural Jailbreak charity event. Alongside this, Amaya has been a committed member of the Royal Marines section of the Combined Cadet Force since Year 10, taking part in demanding expeditions and competitions. Her leadership and commitment have been recognised with her appointment as one of the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets of Worcestershire.

Determined, curious and always ready for a challenge, Amaya throws herself fully into every opportunity school life offers. As such a busy and inspirational pupil – who herself gains so much from everything she undertakes – Amaya has been chosen as one of the College’s Prefects, embodying where a Malvern education can lead.
