Pupils from Malvern College excel in the creative arts. For generations we’ve shaped outstanding performers, musicians, and artists who have lit up the stage and enthralled audiences. German born Thomas Stanford was a Malvern master craftsman who, in 1962 won the Academy Award for Best Editing of the film West Side Story. When Thomas left Malvern in 1942 he was commissioned into the Royal Sussex Regiment, leaving with the rank of Captain. Ready to explore the world, this visionary emigrated to California and began an incredibly successful career in the film industry where his editing credits spread over three decades. An influential figure during the golden age of Hollywood, Mr Stanford is one of our most prominent role models.
