Malvern College was delighted to welcome colleagues from across the Rugby Group of Schools on Thursday 11 June for a full day of discussion, collaboration and shared learning focused on Sport, Music and Co-Curricular provision.
Despite the unseasonably wet weather, the meeting was characterised by excellent engagement, thoughtful conversation and a strong collective commitment to enhancing opportunities for pupils.
The programme brought together representatives from a wide range of schools to exchange ideas and explore emerging trends shaping the educational landscape. Delegates heard from keynote speaker Neil Rollings, who drew on more than two decades of experience as a Director of Sport, alongside his current international advisory work. His address examined how schools can create lasting impact through their co-curricular programmes and reflected on the changing nature of school sport.
Attendees also heard from Angus Savage of NextGenLive, who offered valuable insights into the growing role of media and digital content in enhancing engagement with school sport and broadening its reach.
A particular highlight of the day came after lunch, when Malvern College pupils gave a short concert for delegates. Directors of Music then joined together in an impromptu performance of excerpts from Fauré’s Requiem, providing a memorable musical interlude to the day’s proceedings.
Elsewhere, Directors of Sport had the opportunity to try their hand at pickleball, while Directors of Co-Curricular programmes explored Malvern College’s adventurous outdoor education provision through Jay Watts’ presentation, Reshaping Risk. The varied programme ensured there was something to inspire every attendee.
Breakout sessions across Sport, Music and Co-Curricular disciplines created valuable opportunities for delegates to share best practice, discuss approaches to pupil engagement and programme delivery, and consider future trends and their potential impact on schools.
Reflecting on the event, participants recognised the importance of collaboration and partnership in developing meaningful experiences for young people. The meeting provided a valuable forum for connection, reflection and the exchange of ideas, reinforcing a shared commitment to creating impactful opportunities that enable pupils to flourish both within and beyond the classroom.
