The NSSO attracts over a hundred young musicians from across the UK each year for a week of high quality orchestral playing in one of three orchestras, broadly defined by musical ability and age: NSSO Main Orchestra (grade 8 and above), NSSO Sinfonia (grade 6/7) and Young NSSO (grade 3-5). Many of those who have participated in the NSSO courses over the years have gone on to play with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain

Courses are held in July at both Malvern College and The Downs Malvern, with our outstanding facilities and stunning location creating the perfect environment for music-making. There is a comprehensive social and sporting programme during the week which complements the musical schedule, and the final concerts are given at The Malvern Theatres.
