The provision for Hockey allows pupils of all abilities to develop their own personal skills through Physical Education lessons and in Games periods. The facilities at Malvern allow us to run a range of senior and junior teams both for outdoor and indoor competitions.
Hockey is played throughout the year. The main Hockey term for girls is in the Autumn term but continued development takes place throughout the Lent and Summer terms, with Malvern entering a team into the Stourport HC Summer League each year. Our four Senior teams and four Junior teams (two teams at U15 and two team at U14 level) play competitive matches mainly against both independent and state schools and Boys' Hockey outdoor season is scheduled during the Lent term. Malvern also consider their indoor Hockey to be at a very competitive level, running U18 and U16 teams. Matches are mainly on Saturdays but there are some midweek fixtures.
Malvern is very proud of its coaching staff with a number of coaches who have played and coached Hockey at both National Premier League and International level at both indoor and outdoor. Our Teacher i/c of Hockey, Mark Moss (Wales Senior Women's Indoor Head Coach and Wales Senior Women's Outdoor Assistant Coach), is in charge of all coaching at the College. In 2014 Mark will be attending the Glasgow Commonwealth Games with the Wales Senior Women's Outdoor squad. Additional support from members of Common Room allows a broad and structured Hockey programme.

I am nearing the end of my fourth year at Malvern College, this year being my first as a full time member of staff and also our most exciting and successful yet. During my time at Malvern we have moved from a school that just played Hockey to being one of the fore runners in the region with of our girls' sides continually attending National schools finals. Before finding my passion for coaching I played National League Hockey both indoor and outdoor for Stourport Hockey Club and Represented Worcestershire in the Men’s senior county squad. I am a Level 3 England Hockey coach with aspirations to attain my Level 4 in the near future an achievement and qualification held by very few in the country. As well as coaching at Malvern College I also coach Stourport Ladies 1st team who play in National Conference North (the only ladies team in Worcestershire to be playing at this level). I am currently a centrally contracted coach for England Hockey overseeing coaching content of the single system at all Midlands JRPC centres and in my first year at Malvern College I was recognised by England Hockey when I was awarded the 'Young Performance Coach of the Year' at their Inaugural Annual awards dinner 2008, I was subsequently appointed as assistant coach to the England U16 girls' team in 2010/11. My career pathway has taken me to Hockey Wales, in 2010-2012 I was appointed Wales U16 boys' head coach and then in 2012 I became Wales senior assistant women's coach, who have recently won gold in the European Championships III. In September 2013, I was appointed as head coach of the Senior Women's Indoor Squad who travelled to Lithuania to compete in the B division. Contact

After our recent success throughout all age groups in the National Schools competitions I am looking forward to the future, as we have developed exponentially over the past few years. I am privileged to work with such a fantastic and experienced coaching team which I believe has made the largest impact on the success of both teams and individuals here at Malvern. I have a BSc in Sport & Exercise Science and a Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Exercise Science. I am currently completing my Level 3 Coaching Award and hold the GK Bronze award and hold a Level 1 umpiring award. Prior to coming to Malvern College I played for Olton & West Warwickshire both at indoor and outdoor within the National Premier League. I am currently playing for Stourport HC who play in the National West Conference and hold roles within the England Hockey Talent Development pathway as Head coach at Worcestershire Junior Development and Academy Centres and Head Coach at the Junior Regional Performance Centre for a Birmingham Lynx squad.
