Cricket has a long and successful tradition at the College and in the Summer term we field three Senior and six Junior teams who play competitive matches every week. All coaches involved with our teams have ECB qualifications and many have played at a high standard themselves. The 1st XI and U14As enjoyed unbeaten seasons in 2013 on a strong circuit. Notable block fixtures are played against Shrewsbury, Repton and Millfield. The 1st XI also has an annual fixture against Wellington, Harrow and a two-day game against Bradfield. Tours abroad are organised every three to four years and recent tours have included India, Abu Dhabi and South Africa.
Winter nets start in the Lent term. One-to-One coaching for our sports scholars and those in the XI squad is given throughout the Lent term. This involves one-hour individual sessions with either the Master in Charge or Cricket Professional or Worcestershire coaches. Individual training programmes are also tailored to help improve performance.
Specialist coaches are invited in to take sessions, these have included Steve Rhodes (Head Coach at Worcestershire CCC), Chris Taylor (England fielding coach) and Mat Mason (Worcestershire CCC bowling coach).
Malvern has strong links with Worcestershire CCC, with many of our cricket scholars involved with either the Worcestershire Academy Programme or Emerging Players Programmes. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (OM 2009-2013) recently signed a professional contract with Worcestershire CCC
The training programme with the Academy and EPP is extensive involving nets, nutrition, fitness and lectures. We, the College, work closely with the county to make sure the boys are getting the right balance between their Cricket and academic work.
We also have boys who are involved with other counties (Gloucestershire and Hereford) and the College makes sure these boys are getting the correct amount of Cricket through One-to-Ones coaching seminars and nets.
Girls’ Cricket is a developing sport at Malvern College and girls have training sessions and one-on-one coaching by qualified coaches throughout the year. Malvern has two U14 teams and a U18 side with fixtures against Abberley Hall, Clifton College, Prince Henry’s HS and Bloxham. We are very proud to have five Malvern College girls representing Worcestershire Girls' County Cricket at different age groups, and one of our girls representing Hereford County Cricket.

Master i/c Cricket : Mark Hardinges
I played for Gloucestershire County Cricket club from 1999 till 2008 playing 96 list A games and 50 First class games. In 2009 I was offered a short contract with Essex for their 20/20 campaign. I was fortunate to play in the era when Gloucestershire were known as the one day kings and I played in a Natwest Trophy final at Lords and a 20/20 final against Kent. Since leaving the game I became a teacher of Economics at Malvern College, taking over as Master i/c of Cricket in 2010.
Head Coach: Noel Brett
I have now completed my second season at Malvern College and am excited to be part of an excellent team of experienced staff. I have been coaching cricket for twenty years and I am a level three qualified coach, having previously worked at Wellington College for the last ten years and junior Surrey County squads before that. My playing career consisted of representing Surrey Second and Board elevens.
