Mrs. Rhian Grundy is Housemistress of the warm, friendly and spacious No.8. A natural self-starter, Rhian came to the role of Housemistress after founding and running her own music business for ten years. Directly calling on her background experience, Rhian is both a teacher of Business and Head of Contemporary and Popular Music. During her school days, Rhian was very sporty: captaining the County hockey, netball and athletic teams.
No.8 is a very welcoming place, providing a nurturing, positive and secure ‘home-from-home’ where happy and well-rounded young ladies can flourish, both personally and academically. No.8 girls passionately embrace the breadth of opportunities that the school offers, have a strong sense of self and are great at getting along with others! Rhian is married to Adrian, a former investment banker, who is Malvern’s Head of Sixth Form and a teacher of Economics. They have two daughters: Clementine, who is seven, and one-year-old Florence.
New Housemistress No.8
From September 2017 we welcome Michelle Nardone who
will be the new Housemistress of No.8 at Malvern College.
Before moving into education Michelle gained a degree in
Law and was awarded the 'Diplock' Scholarship from the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. She went on to train as a barrister. Michelle is also an award-winning documentary series producer/director working for ITV Meridian and travelling the world to making factual programmes of interest. For the past two years, she has been working at Gordonstoun in the north of Scotland,
where she is a teacher of Business and a tutor in a large boarding house. Michelle is also Head of the Peer Mentor programme, and has enjoyed leading successful delegations of pupil diplomats to Model United Nations conferences and preparing pupils for debating events.
Michelle has a love of the great outdoors whether walking in the hills or sailing on the ocean. She will endeavour to instil in the young ladies of No.8 a love of learning, a keen sense of adventure and an appreciation and wonderment at the incredible world in which we live.
Michelle says: “No.8 is a light, airy, comfortable house where the girls achieve at a high level in every area of the curriculum: academically, on the sports field and in the performing arts. I will continue to encourage a love of learning where the girls embrace new challenges with 'a can do' attitude and where the spirit of adventure is nurtured. I value the qualities of courage and integrity, and your daughters will be encouraged to have a healthy work ethic alongside the determination to follow their dreams and to be true to themselves. I will continue to provide a warm, happy home which is filled with fun and laughter.”
She is married to Stuart who works in the oil industry, and they have one daughter, Sophia (aged 10), and two dogs, Brewster and Merida.
